Bought SCII for GC

Just got it yesterday. The Nintendo controller is excellent (better than XBOX) for the game. Very responsive. I am kinda getting the hang of how to do the super moves in the game, but wtf is my problem, I was complaining to myself that the moves don't work sometimes. Then I remembered...DUMBASS! With Street Fighter and MK, all those beat em up games took WEEKS if not months to master the moves. I did not kick most peoples' asses in the arcades in SFII or in the dorms in College with MK2 overnight. It took me a couple of months to get the hang of it. And that's playing A LOT. I anticipate I'll be a fearsome opponent in SCII by say, Thanksgiving.

The GFX are excellent. Not as sharp as the XBOX (although when I saw it, it was displayed on a much better TV than mine, plus in composite video, versus my S-video output). The sound rocks. Nintendo high quality shit, as usual. I think this version better than PS2 version.

Oh, Link is really cool, but kinda unfair cuz he has PROJECTILE weapons that can hit you from way across the screen (arrows, bombs, and boomerang).

My cat chewed on my Nintendo Gamecube controller wire while I was battling a boss in Metriod Prime and the controller doesn't work now. I had to go and buy wireless controllers

The coolest and most important game in the console universe, GTA: Vice City, was fucked up, it hung the game temporarily while playing, and stuff. This is very annoying, but thankfully not bad enough that I had to replace it.

Desert Combat....what an ingenious thing

Ok as you all know my internet connection sucks donkey tits. Verizon claims it's virus-induced...I think it's just bandwidth. Anyhow, last night at like 1am it was real good! I mean REAL good. Played a few WC3 games then went on to join the DC server my bro was playing at. The map was Battleaxe. It was one of those servers with 700 points for each team so it took a while to finish. WHAT A GAME. OMFG it is SOO much fun cuz it's hilarious, the graphics and sound are unparralleled, and I mean come on...tanks, jeeps, helis, rocket launchers, AA guns, you guys know the drill. I was laughing my ass off most of the time.

Ok truly...this is kinda serious...Frozen Throne + Desert Combat are SO good...I don't think I'll play anything else for a long long time. Quite sad...there are so many great titles coming out real soon and in 2004. Ah well at least they will have their benefit of not making me go out as much which = $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ savings. I just can't do it...go out and not spend significant money. I know too many people...I tried and tried and tried...I just cannot. So stay home = only solution to save money for me. I just cannot, trust me. Dammit, I wish I was still a loser dork. They save a hella lot more bills than me. =(

I have the fortune of living in Boston...a city where there are TONS of hotties. Today on the T I saw such one. Now I've seen others on the T VERY hot, but this one...my my my, she was TOTALLY natural. No make up, natural hair, very classy/conservative nail polish, etc. She was just stunning, I couldn't keep my eyes off her. She had a slight tan, nice legs (skirt) and beautiful feet. DSL still sucking @ my crib

Well they finally added an additional T1 line and upgraded the switches. However someone+ has been infected by the damn MSBLASTER and SOBIG virus in Harbor Point so TONS of the traffic being generated as seen on the servers of VZ is from the virus. Hence, even though the T1 lines are UNDER-UTILIZED the servers are bogged down. I don't see why they cannot just shut down ports. Then again, I think that's EXACTLY what they are trying to do...find the dude with the shit PC and defunct his line. Asswipe.

Till it gets fixed, I'll be watching more and more awesome Gosu replays for WC3.

I remember playing Soul Cal on the Sega Dreamcast. It was quite good, but nothing that special. I don't see what the hoopla is about. I prefer the rawness and more visceral action of the Mortal Kombat series. I saw MK:DA on the XBOX the other day at Hao's friend's place and I was blown away. Wow. I like the fact that they went back to enabling you to select different weapons for each character. That was one of the best features of the original Soul Blade, that never made it into Soul Caliber.

The power of harassing

Ok as we all know we are using this BLOG site to enhance our Warcraft skillz. So here's something I learned. It relates to 1v1 mostly, but I guess 2v2 also, and, if smartly done, 3v3 too. ORCs can indeed tech HARD without much trouble. I saw a bunch of replays by this 18 year old dude, ONE-TIME, he plays ORC and he got #1 on East ladder. He did hard tech each time against some VERY good players, most of them trying to rush him, tower, etc. He won all the games I saw. Wow, basically he hard techs while harrassing with Farseer and then the Tauren king.

Basically, you don't let the other dude creep. Wolves rock. Also, if u fighting Undead, get Tauren Chief STOMP for the spiders/ghouls. But vs humans/NE get shockwave for the footies/rifles/archers. Nobody does mass hunts in 1v1 by the way. Top level NE players in 1v1 get Neutral heroes + archers. Usually the BEASTMASTER cuz he is a tank and summons fat bears, so creeping is easy with mass archers and him.

Well anyway this ONE-TIME dude hard techs, so he gets wyverns and tauren usually with BLUST. He buys himself so much time, amazing. What happens when he is rushed by mass tier 1, he just makes sure he micro hero good to keep alive and use burrows (he upgrade reinforced armor) and he immedeately plops down a barrax when he sees a rush starting or coming. He gets either ballista from the barrax or grunts if need be. Worked like a charm. Ok you must be saying "ok come on dude, I can mass major tier 1 and rape your ass" oh yeah? This guy gets a pack of wyverns and KEEPS HARRASSING your peons/acolytes/wisps constantly, so you are forced to hang out at home for a bit, or remove a few archers from your army to protect in the back of your base. Amazing. It works so well. So the enemy NEVER techs faster than he can, and eventually he has superior army.

OMG he played Kain-The-Feared, which as you know is a kick ass player, who was NE, and he even rushed him, but he stopped it, and then it was a very ugly sight in the last fight. Bloodlusted Tauren against shitload of archers, some DoTTs, and a few hunts, plus a level 5 BEASTMASTER. He surrounded his TANK OF A HERO Beastmaster with his Tauren and killed him instantly. How? Shaman purge abuse. =) He just didn't let him run away by purging the shit out of his hero, surrounded with 4 tauren...GG. Well he had like 5 tauren total, and most of them died to the archers, cuz there were like a bazillion of them...but...5 bloodlusted taurens, with chain lightning and shockwave...care to take a guess how those archers faired up after the fight? That's right, all dead. With like a level 7 farseer or something. Ok it was actually not a complete slaughter, but OMFG those tauren are so vicious. What in the world can own so many archers on the ground I dunno (I guess level 3 blizzard plus level 3 firestrike).

Ok so there ARE strategies to allow hard tech in Frozen Throne and also not worry too much about getting tier 1 rushed. This is a very good thing, cuz I hate rushing, it's boring and detracts from the game if it's abused (and it is nowadays on bnet, yawn yawn) and I will spend considerable time learning ways to counter it while I tech. You see, I think it's not unbalanced, in fact, in classic, it was too easy to tech, not it's harder, but it's not like they made massing tier 1 rediculously easy. In fact I think Blizz made TFT even more balanced than Classic. It's just that most ppl just go for the easy route and rush and the defenders are the typical bnet player who freaks out when he sees 20 archers or footmen. No need to panic. We will learn...and crush...

Watched a Korean WC3 VOD last night

Well last night I dnlded a VOD which is a Video TV movie capture of a battle between a coupla pro gamers in Korea. It showed the room they are in, the main screen that the audience were watching, and the players' facial expressions, and the interviewers commenting (all in Korean, so dunno wtf they saying, except during gameplay cuz they use english words).

Anyhow, it was between SHOWTIME.WERRA and this other dude, RS_ROTI I think. Ok you know what, WERRA doesn't look that weird after all (although I must say what he was wearing was quite weird). The weirdest thing was that there was an audience there in the room with them of like 40 people, and 1/2 of them were chicks!! Odd. This is definitely an Asian phenomenom, I know in other parts of the World, very very few chicks would come with their friend or BF to watch a freakin video game battle. Then again these guys are famous on TV. I would imagine more than a few Korean schoolgirls want to have WERRA's baby at this point in time, LOL.

WERRA won, it was a GG. They both were ORC, and they both went exact same build, Bmaster, Chieftan, Farseer, Kodo beasts, and mass casters. It was kinda less satisfying to watch as a regular replay cuz the view was from the referrees' screen, big plasma TV, cuz there you cannot see the players clicking to see their micro skills. Nonetheless you can tell they know when to creep, fight, how to position units, how to counter expansions and towering, etc. Nothing spectacular. But you can tell they were concentrating very hard. Albeit with a comfortable look on their face (so they each musta logged a million games by now, LOL).

It's about 50 megs if u want I can send it to you via MSN Messenger. Let me know. It's interesting for us WC3 geeks. Man, WC3 kicks ass. You can tell there is a huge aura of respect for Blizzard in Europe/Asia/USA for them coming up with such a product. Rightfully so. It owns.

Chicago Visit

I visited Chicago for the 1st time this weekend. I went for a wedding of a girl I knew in high school. It was pretty cool, the wedding actually wasn't boring at all, good food, and, I saw many people I haven't seen in a long time. Nobody flew in from Kuwait though, just those that are already in the USA/Canada showed up.

Chicago is nice, very cosmo, but not as much as NY, but less claustraphobic and more pleasant. It seemed in the middle between Boston and NY. However, I still think Boston owns. There seemed to be less things to do/see in Chicago than here. Perhaps I should spend more time there, then again, I'm quite confident in my claim, as I've visited many other big cities for more than a couple of days (like I did with Chicago) and I think I know what I'm talking about.

Well I took lots of nice pics of the wedding/friends, and from our tour with my friend Sami's friend in his convertible Beemer, he works there and came to show us around all day. Alas, I lost my digital camera, I am too pissed off to share with you the details, but anyway not important. What is is that I lost those pics forever. Oh well. At least there were a few others with digicams snappin' away, plus the pics that the bride and groom will have, I am sure they'll email us some of them. But my Chicago pics are gone. =(

Ok well a quick interesting fact about Chicago, back when Henry the VIII was King, the French discovered Chicago, and this dude Joliette and some other dude, they were trying to convince the king that this town IS WHERE ITS AT! As in cash money records, bling bling etc. But the King disagreed, siding with his agents that dismissed Chicago as a viable economic powerhouse. Well due to that the French never established a strong enough foothold there, and rather went South to Lousiana and stuff. Well due to this, during the War 7 years later with the British, they lost the land to them and the Brits got Chicago. If Henry had listened to his 2 dudes, perhaps they would have never lost, and the Chicago peoples might be speakin French now. Heh.

THIS SUX that I lost my cam. Oh well, time to upgrade I guess. I realized that this megapixel issue going around these days is ABSOLUTELY nothing more than "my dick is bigger than yours" type of deal. The point is, who the hell needs 1 million pixels x 500,000 ???? I take most of my pics at 640x480, thank you very much. Therefore, will get a small, compact, relatively cheapo camera as a replacement. You're a moron if you go buy 4 megapixel. You don't need that shit, dumbass. A Fantasy

Last friday I drove down to Houston and as soon as I got onto highway 71 I met up with an Acura RL and a Volvo. They were both speeding, so I decided to join them. We would switch places every once in a while, and would block traffic for one another. There was this really good looking blonde woman in the Acura RL. I think she was just shopping in Austin because I noticed a bunch of shopping bags hanging from the coat hanger.

We made it to Houston in about 2 hours and 10 minutes, which is pretty damn good considering if you were going the speed limit it would take at least 3 hours. On Vanity

My gf IMed me today about buying this "business card holder" online. For those who cannot read Japanese its basically a very small Louis Vuitton wallet which can hold your (and other people's) business cards. She told me she liked this style because it matches the LV Diary holder which I bought her last year (not to mention a LV purse the year earlier). Curious, I asked her just why can't she just use her wallet to hold her business card. Her response was a natural "It is considered rude here".
Now as a good Asian American Citizen (AAC) I consider myself fairly materialistic, but the Japanese are WAAAYYYYYYY overboard with this kind of crap. Even as the Japanese economy seeps into a deeper recession, its teenagers are still willing to do some very NASTY things just to make enough to buy themselves their own designer fashion accessories. In the US you see a lessor degree of the same, as you often see Asians driving Bimmers and Benz, even though they cannot save a cent on their salaries..
Now I don't like rednecks, but one thing I like about them is their down-to-earthiness.

What an amazing storm

Yesterday I was playing Warcraft III with the Tides of Blood map and I was kicking ass. Actually that's an understatement, I was raping the bastards and the next thing I know the electricity goes off. It comes back on 2 seconds later and then starts going on and off ever second for like 6 seconds and then off. I turn off everything and unplug my computers and monitors. I hear some noise on the windows so I walk to the balcony and I notice there is a bit of hail. I was thinking, "Cool, I love hail let me open the balcony door." As soon as I open the door and step outside all hell breaks loose and a mother of a storm floods the sky with marble sized hail. I was trying to take pictures but it hurt too much so I ran back in.

While it was hailing I could not see 2 feet from the balcony since it was completey dark and filled with white dots, and this was at 7 p.m. where the sun is just about to set. I seriously though the windows were going to break. Water was coming through the apartment door and the window in my room started leaking water. You could barely see any of the trees outside of my window because they were pressed down to the ground. All I could hear was the hail banging onto the window and cars slamming on their breaks trying to avoid other cars.

With my amazing luck, my street was at ground zero, and the aftermath was good evidence of that. Trees were twisted and ripped from their roots and thrown 30 or 40 feet from their original spots. There were trees which broke like cheap toothpicks. Tiles were ripped off the roofs of a lot of houses. There was even a 16 wheeler on I-35, which is 2 min my spot, that was flipped on its side.

It is a good thing I have covered parking for my car, otherwise it would have been screwed.

It was bloody awesome, and I took pictures! Make sure you click on the last image and you can watch a movie of the storm after it stopped hailing.

The electricity was out from 7 p.m. till 6 a.m. the next day. Since it was pointless to stay at home since we had no lighting, my roomate and I decided to go and watch SWAT. It was ok. It started out really good and then just went downhill.

The Frozen Throne update

Well this weekend I played many games of ladder random 3v3. Tons of fun, as usual...save for the occasional TOTAL noobs on my team. Gawd that is frustrating. Anyway I am level 7 already, so soon I will be in the teens where you start avoiding super noobs like the plague, automatically...thank goodness.

Well the game is, no surprise, SUPREMELY balanced. If you don't agree, well then, I ask you then fellow moron gamer, name me one other game that's more balanced! LOL, I didn't think so asswipe.

Anyways, I'm glad they nerfed NE noticably since Classic WC3. GAWD the chims and the dryads were getting quite annoying in classic patch 1.05. Now a lot more people are using undead and Orcs again. Humans remain ultra-versatile, and thus ever-popular.

TFT...to be played...repeatedly...for several years to come. Nevermind the custom crap people come out with like the masterfully designed ToB! LOL.

Yay, I got my EAD card

Wassup y'all. Yesterday I got my Employment Authorization Card from the "new INS" called BCIS, this is part of the HOMELAND SECURITY department, headed by Mr. Tom Ridge.

Well, it looks exactly like the EAD card I got to allow me to work back in 1998 when I was undergrad in WPI. =)

I am not quite sure what's left in the green card process, now that I have this thing (btw this card allows me to work anywhere/everywhere in the country, just like any citizen can).

I need to apply for Advance Parole I think, in order to travel however (until I get the actual green card papers). However my lawyer told me NOT to apply for it now till they fix up a boo-boo on my file in the BCIS, because some moron at Logan airport put the wrong info when I was going through immigration for my H1-B visa expiration date. SUX.

Falafel, you went through the exact same shit like 2 years ago. Can you shed some light on your experiences so I can know wtf to expect from this point (obtained EAD card) and the end (obtain actual green card papers)? Thanks homey. Peace.

Lunch Moments part II

Today's lunch adventure was almost as interesting. Before lunch, Ray came to Nizar's desk and was checking out Nizar's new Sony/Ericsson T610 phone. Everything was fine until Ray wanted to try out the phone's internet browsing capabilities. Nizar informed us that there is a "known bug" to the phone's software, which requires a person to turn off the phone first and turn it back on in order to access this service. Ray had no problem turning off the phone, but even after some furious attempts of rapidly pressing/holding the POWER button, the phone could not be turnned back on. Depressed, we went to a Vietnamese restaurant and had a wonderful conversation about green card, discrimination, and cars. As we chatted along, Pano's Chicken noodle soup arrived quickly, followed by my BBQ pork chop, and Ray's Chick Curry. No big deal, Nizar's food will come soon, we figuered. By the time everyone else finished their food, nizar's Steak and Pork noodles finally came. Looking puzzled, Nizar asked the waitress "What did I order"? The waitress told Nizar promptly "you ordered #47, this is it". We peered into Nizar's noodles and had a hard time finding the steak. We did managed to find a few pork feet and some tendons. "The cook must be discriminating against you", Panos commented. We all agreed.

Following lunch we all went to two T-mobile stores, both refused to help Nizar because Nizar bought the phone online. Another round of discrimination! Panos told Nizar that he might have an old GSM phone which Nizar can use. For a moment Nizar looked happy, but then went on asking "Are you sure its going to work"? "You just stick it in and it works!" Panos sneered. "But thats what she said", Nizar replied in a sheepishly.

Lunch Moments Part 1

The time between roughly 12pm to 1pm is always my favorite moment of the day. Lunch periods allow me to talk to my friends and coworkers, and basically recharge myself. Food is a good thing.
Last two days are not exceptions.
Yesterday we decided to go Hong Kong eatery. On the way to our destination, we started to talk about relationship with women. Nizar has been rather edgy lately regarding his own and I cannot say I don't have trouble with the opposite sex. So as I was listening to Nizar's theories about this chick which he is seeing, I noticed another event which was a lot exciting. You see, outside of Hong Kong eatery some black guy was getting arrested. Two white cops were searching the black guy, and one of the cops pulled something which looked like crack out of the suspect's pocket. As we returned to our conversation, we realized one thing: That black dood is in a lot deeper shit than we are..

STUPID PEOPLE

You know some people should just not work in the computer industry if they don't have a clue. I've been trying to redo our bug database with free software (because we are trying to cut cost) and have been working with two other people of whom is this clueless girl. The time came to order a computer to run the web server and the mysql database. The IT person comes back with this Dell server at the cost of $9,000!! They company must have forgotten to send me the memo about us no longer cutting cost..... So I go to the Dell website and configure a dell precision workstation that's capable of dual CPUs but configured with only 1 cpu, 1 gig of ram, 180 gig drive, no monitor, and the crappiest video card. The price..............$2,1000. Yah it doesn't have the redundant power supply and raid drives, but we can live without that stuff and do backups regularly and avoid having to fork out another 7 grand.

Anyway, the girl sends me an email asking:

"Do you know if there will be more than one thread of execution? If not, we should be able to scale back to a single processor."

I had to read that sentence a couple of times because I just couldn't believe it. I mean wtf is she doing working here!?!?!

I wanted to reply "YES YOU DUMB FUCK ITS A FRIGGIN WEB AND DATABASE SERVER. THERE WILL BE LIKE 200 PEOPLE CONNECTING TO IT YOU SHIT FOR BRAINS. DO YOU THINK ALL 200 PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE ALL SERVED ON ONE THREAD? MAYBE WE SHOULD GET 3 PROCESSORS. 1 FOR WINDOWS, 1 FOR APACHE, AND ONE FOR MYSQL."

I was polite and replied "yes, of course there be more than one thread of execution"

My boss came by my cubicle and I was telling him about the cost of the server. He interupted me and said "Well the Solaris machine that hosts our cvs repository has two processors, and since cvs is only one process mabye we should think about hosting the database on that so that the second cpu can be used."

I was thinking "OMG you must be fuckin joking me. Please tell me you are joking? You are not, aren't you? What fucking lame ass for a boss? How the fuck are you my boss? You think that the CVS dameon sits there and tries to accept requests from the 400 people that do checkouts and commits?"

I said "Nah its ok, I don't think we should."

Give me a gun so I can shoot myself and put myself out of misery. Man just wait till the job market comes back, and I'm out of here.

Zeid, interesting about the LCD. Sounds good. Although the 25ms lag MAY be a little too much for hardcore FPS slamheads like us.

For example, yeah, you would be my little bitch in MOH when I snipe you in the head consistently with my marksmanship due to your inferior "observed lag", packet for packet. Typically results in "GRR CAMPING NOOB DIE U SUK WTF" alas I gain respect from everyone else as usual and I continue owning and having fun. I like MOH a lot cuz you have more control of what occurs than in 1942. Even though 1942 is better than MOH overall, by far, there is an aspect to MOH that makes it by far the best FPS on the market (Note that I don't quite count 1942 as an FPS). There's something about the atmosphere. Also what owns is that MOH has BY FAR the most amazingly audited-for-cheating-fuckers servers on the internet. Being public servers w/o central control we know this is tough to do. But HOLY CRAP go see nowadays how strict it is and stuff. Impressive efforts, even in the eyes of hardcore cheating whores.

Anyways, MOH Rising Sun (Pearl Harbor and Pacific Rim setting) is coming out in the Fall. It will be spectacular (and purchased by Nizar) for sure. However, wait till you see the sequel to BF1942 which will be in Vietnam setting and from what I read it will be so amazing, it will rival Desert Combat.

That is to say...unless DC ends up being like 10X better when it is released non-beta version! Holy crap.

Back to monitors. Screw LCDs for now, I guess. I LOVE my Sony 19 inch trinitron, it has such vibrant colors and ability to display very hi rez at 100Hz, that almost everyone that watches me play comments on how nice the graphics look. SONY RULES and they are kinda expensive for a good reason.

I've been pretty bored at work and have been feeling down lately because of the poor health my grandparents are in. So I decided to go to Fry's and check out what LCD screens they got since I've been thinking of getting one to replace my 5 year old 17". I was mainly interested in the ViewSonic VX2000 20" panel since I've read some great reviews about that model.

Usually in the computer section at Fry's the salespeople keep asking you "Can I help you look at something?" or "If you have any questions please ask anyone?". I'm really not that against their helpfulness, but doing it 6 or 7 times in 10 minutes gets annoying, especially when they are not on a comission. Anyway, this time not one salesman came up to me to ask me if I needed anything. There was a hot chick, but she didn't look like a sales person and she kept on blabbing with this her coworker, so I didn't want to "disturb" her.

Oh, back to the LCD stuff...I usually buy my computer stuff off the internet since it is always cheaper, but I really did not want to take the chance with a LCD panel especially with the whole deal with bad pixels. In the past I have been blessed with no bad pixels in the last 4 laptops I've used, but I wasn't going to take any chance. I finally found a guy and asked him if he had any of the ViewSonic's in stock. Apparently I was in luck, there was one left in storage. When the guy came out with the box, I noticed the box was pretty banged up. I insisted that he open the box up to make sure the screen was not damaged, and it wasn't. So I handed the credit card over and was on my way home.

Let me say this LCD panel is pretty damn sweet. No BAD PIXELS!! It has a response time of 25 ms, but imho it does better than the other panels rated at 25. I was having problems getting my Geforce FX 5600 card to run it at 1600x1200 using DVI, so I'm driving the panel through analog. I will need to investigate that further. The second thing that's important in a panel is the issue with ghosting when playing games. To test, I ran BattleField 1942 (first person shooter) and Warcraft III (rpg). With BF 1942 I noticed a little bit of ghosting when switching running directions real quick, but it wasn't bad enough for me to irritate me. With Warcraft III the image was perfect and no signs of ghosting.

Next thing was to enable ClearType in WinXP. ClearType will turn on anti-aliasing for text in all applications and makes things a lot easier to read. This is a must for anyone who uses a LCD screen to do alot of reading and word processing as it helps reduce eye strain.

So as far as I'm concerned this was a pretty good investment and upgrade from my old 17" CRT.

I completely agree with Nizar that women are mostly insecure, delicate, and illogical creatures. However I think the problem does not only apply to the female sex, but to the entire human race. The problem IMO is emotion. When we are emotional, we often throw what is left of common sense out the window. It is rather fortunate(or unforunate) that women are generally more emotional than men, hence we men often have problem with them...
Now on the subject of lying, I think women do so so much easier than us men. According to the bible the snake is the king of deceit but IMO women are worse. They have this tendency to hide their innermost feelings under the pretext of "being kind". They don't play fair either. How many times does your gf tell you never to contact your ex, when they themselves talk to their ex every week? At first I thought this case only applied to me, but apparently it is very common among us.
Lastly, on the question why women like assholes, the cause of this mainly lies in their insecurity. You see, typical assholes always pretend to be secure, and like to demonstrate their own hands in "leadership". Bad bad luck with Samsung S105 Phone

I don't know why but since May I have been having some SERIOUS bad luck with my S105 Phone (T-Mobile) to the point of sadness. Everything was fine and dandy back in May, after I got my phone unlocked (so it can use other SIM cards) in NYC Chinatown. About a week later, I was walking and accidently bumped my leg into a desk, with my phone in the pocket. The phone's LCD screen leaked and I sent the thing back. A week later I got a replacement. All was swell until a week after that, I accidently dropped the damn thing not even from very high (maybe 4 feet) onto the ground, and the LCD started to leak again. Fine, I sent it back again, and promised myself to take good care of the phone from that point on.
Well, today I tried to follow instructions from T-Mobile to unlock the phone (I found out that I don't need to pay the jerk in NYC 10 bucks to unlock the phone anymore, cuz T-mobile support it now). Guess what? Instead of UNlocking the phone, I locked it, for good! Yes I tried the exact steps which the ppl from T-mobile told me to do, and it DOES NOT WORK. Moreover the T-mobile ppl told me I have 5 tries to make this work, I was locked out by my 3rd try. I suspect my Samsung sent back the wrong confirm code but I digress..

Anyhow, yet another new S105 will be coming by the end of this week, and I gotta re-enter the info in my phonebook again. This sucks..

PvD show cancelled, Cruising in a Porsche

In a rather unfortunate turn of events, Paul Van Dyk cancelled his show because he got food poisoned in Ibiza. So me and Niz took his friend's Porsche and went to bar hopping. We started from Whiskey Park, then we moved to a joint called Seven Eleven, then Saint, then back to Seven Eleven. Let me just say that the night was not that great. Whiskey Park and Saint were fairly dead, and Seven Eleven had a Russian night, speaking of which, most of us agreed that Russian dance music was EXTREMELY cheesy and overall annoying. I think Gelf should fit in there just fine.

The yellow Porsche covertible did catch attentions of some people. I noticed general envious stares from high school kids, and a pretty blond in her 20s (who was with her boyfriend I may add) gave us this flirtatious smile after staring at the car for a few seconds. According to Niz's friend Nizar was supposed to be very good at driving, but I still get nervous when he accelerates the car to like 70 suddenly and then slam on the breaks on Storrow drive.

Overall I liked the Porsche, but it's a performance car and hence not very comfortable. If I have the money I would prefer the Lexus Coupe over the Boxster, but then again I am biased towards Japanese cars as all good Asians should be.

Freakin New England Weather, hum bug!

Ok, zero. We wanted to go out and enjoy some convertible Porsche motoring in the city of Boston tonight but thanks to mother nature (bitch!) it might rain a little here or there during the night. In fact right now it's REAL DARK outside (it's about 2pm on Friday) it's pathetic, it looks like STORM from X-men cast her spell or some shit. WTF. Maybe we shall experience some German engineering supremacy after all...the weather here changes so fast. Cross yer fingers.

Well, we are off to watch Van Dyk @ Avalon anyways tonight, rain or shine. It's just SOOO much better to drive the Porsche with the top down cuz of the wonderful engine music. As you can see, this is why California and Florida weather is world famous, and Boston weather is not. =(

Karaoke and Tekken 4

A friend of mine is leaving today, so last night we went to a Karaoke joint to have some fun before his departure. I sang the song Kryonite by 3 doors down, Sweet Child of Mine by GNR, and Crawling by Linkin Park. My throat hurts a little today. As much as I enjoy progressive trance and hip hop, I still gotta know at least a few rock songs.

Afterwards we went over my place and one of the guys wanted to play Tekken 4. Fine, I whopped out the game and we started to play. 30 games later, the score was 29:1. I won 29 games and my friend won 1.

On the brighter side, it turned out that the guy whom I was playing against, a Korean dood by the name of Justin, is actually a WC3 player as well. He is current level 8 on Frozen Throne but what is more important is the fact that he has some Korean(Kimchi) brother who is over level 30 in the original WC3, on the Asian server too! I will probably bug this guy so that his Kimchi friend could teach us some tricks. In exchange I would gladly let him borrow my PS2 so that he can improve in his Tekken 4 skills.

Warcraft3's supermacy is demonstrated yet again

Last night myself, Spy and SmokeJaguar played C&C Generals. While that game has certainly got its good side (cool graphics engine, nice sound and great WMD weapons and effects) it has way too many flaws compared to the almighty Blizzard product. I mean Christ, we haven't played it in a while and when we played it last night and finished, it was glaringly evident that it just plain sucks ass compared to WC3. WC3 is so damn polished and professionally done, optimized, and thought-out, it's almost rediculous that people are playing other RTS games. I guess retardation *IS* a widespread disease or something.

Anyhow, the saddest part is that EA Games has not rectified the worst shit in C&C:G, which is HORRENDOUS network problems, it's so slow and it lags. WTF. They have no excuse...because Red Alert and C&C original were very fast-paced and nice. Perhaps BF1942 is stealing the show for EA as a whole now even though DICE develops for them so they don't pay attention to Generals. Obviously fans aren't either. Spy noted there were only 285 people playing last night. That is just sad.

Of course SmokeJaguar is a pansy who is afraid and wants to hug his mommy, he doesn't want to deal with WC3, what a g-lord. Spy and I will beat him into submission.

Anyways, yeah, LoEG I knew was gonna bite a little. For sure, Pirates of the Carrib will be good, I heard the acting is excellent and great sound/lighting effects and nice story for what its worth.

Personally, I would wholeheartedly support Hollywood to SPAM us with tons and tons of Saving Private Ryan type movies every 6 months or something, I love that stuff, can't get enough of it. War moveis with amazing action and cinematography and attention to main characters RULES over anything else you sorry-assed spoiled brats may prefer. Well, at least we have a plethora of WW2 and Vietnam-themed multiplayer PC games coming out, they ALL rule and will be played by Niz. Alas, when DC goes official, it will rule the Earth. Can u imagine? How good is it now in ALPHA stage, imagine when it's PAST beta. Holy.

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

I watched League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (LXG) yesterday night, and I must say that with all the special effects and a so-so plot, I was not overly impressed. It was cool to see a vampire, Dr Jekyl and Hyde, Captain Nemo, etc...all together fighting evil, but it just did not have a "WOW" factor to it.

Some of the characters didn't seem to be that important. Obviously they had to focus on at least one or two, but some of them only had a total of 10 min, like the invisible guy.

Dunno, I enjoyed watching Terminator 3. It had lots of action, special effects, and it had the right amount of humor. LXG did not have enough action or special effects, and if I recall I only laughed a couple of times.

I would suggest you wait till it comes out on video or DVD.

My company just moved from a wharehouse type of office building into our parent company's main campus. The building are the typical office buildings, i.e. raised floors and fake cielings.

I used to have an office that was about 16x12 and now I'm crammed into an 8x8 cubicle. My heavy wooden desk was replaced by a flimsy plastic desk. I get 4 head cabinets which will remain empty and whose lids will be kept open to block the rays eminating from the cieling lights. Fortunately I can look out of my cubicle and look at the great rusted sculptures of long horns.

I now have to walk 2 minutes to reach the front door of the building and it is a 2 minute walk to coffee machine. I also have to wear a security badge the whole time I'm walking around campus. I know that's not a big deal, but wearing badges and name tags makes me uncomfortable.

In the old building we used to be able to drive 5 to 10 minutes to reach our favorite restaurants. In the new location everything is much further and now we have to succumb to the amazing cuisine of the company cafeteria. The food is not that bad, they have the usual burgers, pasta, and salad, but they also have a meal of the day special. It is also way cheaper than eating at the local restaurants.

At least we get a soccer field, basketball courts, and a good fitness center. It seems like the only advantage to this location is the amount of exercise I will be getting.

Movies & Music

Over last weekend I saw the film "City of Lost Children". GREAT MOVIE!! I don't think everyone will like it, but it was very, very well done, reminds me of the movie "Dark City" alot.

While driving yesterday I heard some pretty cool song on the radio but could not recall the band/song name. So I went to the radio station's website and basically downloaded every song on their playlist. Long live Kazaalite! It turned out that the song which I liked is named "Phatom" and the band is "Mr.Lif". It is hip hop but incorporated a very cool industrial beat in the background. The lyrics was also very good. For those who are into "thinking" hip hop I would strongly recommend this band from Boston (they actually plays at MidEast, a local bar alot).

I also managed to download the song "Magic Stick" by Lil Kim ft. 50 Cent, 3 times. The first 2 times the songs were apparent fake loops put into the p2p system by the music industry. The sad thing is that some 60 ppl have these fakes. I deleted the fake shit right away and hope everyone else would do the same.

After spending a few hours of listening to various "new" music, I conclude that 98% of the music on the market sucks. I wonder why do people (myself included) even bother to buy CDs when most of the music nowadays sucks so much.

Beach, Sunblocks, and Heat Sinks

Went to Cape Cod with Nizar and a couple of other friends. The water at below 60 degrees was a bit of change for me as the temp for my pool is usually at around 85 degrees, so I did not swim much. Since I was gonna spend most of the time lying down, I aksed Niz for some sunblock. He has 3 bottles, 1 basically is just oil, no SPF protection at all, 1 is 4 SPF, and 1 8 SPF. I chose the 8 SPF bottle and rubbed that crap on myself. A few hours later I noticed redness on my back, and by night time my entire back is red as lobster and I had trouble sleeping. I guess this is what i get for staying indoors most of the time...

Last night i also spoken to Fraser, who explained to me that his CPU temp raises to some 75 degrees, from which he begins to hear warning sounds from his MoBo. Whatever. I told him to get my heatsink, which is by Thermalright. He ordered it today, hopefully it will alleviate his problem.
